St Cry is the French equivalent of West Point or Sandhurst and is the elite officer training school for the French Army. Their training groups are called "Promotions" and each is named after a significant person or event in French military history. This is the insignia of the 161st Promotion from 1974-76 named after Lt Darthenay, a WWII French resistance officer killed by the Germans. The insignia is made by Arthus Bertrand.
