A nice example of the WW2 War Commemorative Medal with bars for Voluntary Enlistment and Liberation. This combination suggests it could have been worn by someone who joined the French military as a volunteer after the outbreak of WWII and was then active after D-Day. This would be consistent with a French serviceman, or a member of the French Foreign Legion, who was evacuated from Dunkirk and then returned to France after 6th June 44.
