Bayern Regiments Ehrenkreuz mit Gefechtsspange des Königlich Bayerisches Schwere-Reiter-Regiment, „Prinz Karl von Bayern“ Nr. 1

In World War I, the Regiment fought in Lorraine and made a cavalry charge at Gondrexon.   It then moved to Neuf-Berquin, Lys, Ypres and into reserve at Metz.   In April 1915 it moved to the Eastern Front and fought in Lithuania and Courland and later in Galicia and Romania.   In March 1918, it moved on Kiev, Odessa and the Crimea.   At the end of the war it was in eastern Ukraine from where it returned to Bavaria in January 1919, there to be demobilised and disbanded.
