The Japanese Order of the Sacred Crown was an award restricted to female recipients and was very sparingly bestowed. This is a Meiji era insignia of the 6th Class. In this class there were typically about 120 awarded each year making this very hard to find on the collector's market. The 6th class usually has a red enamel border around the central medallion, however this is missing on this piece.
