Collectors research notes state that Patrick Leary was born at St. James', Dublin. He attested into the Royal Irish Regiment on 13 July 1883. He served in Malta from 28 February 1884 - 16 March 1884 and then served in India from 17 March 1884 - 30 September 1890 and was discharged the same day as a result of being medically unfit for further service.
